Brewing Specialist – Athens, GA
POSITION PURPOSE
Safely, Joyfully, and Efficiently produces the highest quality wort at our Southern Mill brewing facility.
REPORTS TO:
Brewing Manager

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications: One year of production experience in a brewery making 5000+ BBLs/year. Preferred experience in brewing and automated brewhouses in breweries producing 30K+ BBLs/year
Physical requirements: Extended standing, bending, sitting, lifting at least 55 # to waist height, ability to move up to 165# across the floor (kegs), ability to climb stairs, read from multiple screens, adequate hearing ability to work safely with others in a loud environment, tolerance for hot, cold, noisy, and dusty conditions.
POSITION OUTCOMES & OUTPUTS
- Quality Wort Production
- Ensure that all wort sent to cellar is on time and to gravity and quality specifications or that a remediation plan is in place and clearly communicated to Brewing Manager.
- Produce wort according to all SOP’s and notify Brewing Manager to any discrepancy.
- Efficiently Manage Time to hit brewing schedule.
- Raw Material Handling and GMP
- Collect truck and crush samples from every new silo of bulk malt as required
- Rotate and maintain FIFO for all brewing raw materials.
- Maintain GMP standards and complete all required special cleaning as directed by Brewing Manager
- Ensure routine and proper CIP of brewing equipment
- Production Optimization and Maintenance
- Identify areas for improvement in process and recipe
- Execute required maintenance with support from Maintenance Dep., Brewing Manager, Krones, etc…
- Perform Brewhouse PMs as needed or directed by the Brewing Manager.
- Professional Development
- Participate in Giant Leadership training.
- Participate in Sensory Panel whenever schedule allows. Attend sensory training course once every 2 years.
- Train new Specialists according to plan provided, audit performance and present report to Brewing Manager after training period ends.
