Packaging Specialist II

Based in Athens, GA

Position Purpose:

The Packaging Specialists support CCBC in helping people navigate the beautiful and complex world of beer by executing at a high level of quality and contributing to a culture of safety as part of the Packaging Team.

Activities & Outcomes:

  • Mechanical-focused responsibilities
    • The Packaging Specialist must operate, change over, and maintain packaging equipment
    • Troubleshoots by utilizing technical-focused deductive reasoning skills, with the purpose of discussing and identifying results for, and performing minor repairs and/or improvements on production equipment
    • The Packaging Specialist must run a full CIP/SIP on related equipment
    • Participates and collaborates with team leaders and peers in problem solving activities to determine root cause and close the loop on issues
    • Capable of performing packaging operator and maintenance functions taking a hands-on approach whenever necessary
    • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems associated with high-speed packaging equipment
  • Contributor to culture:
    • Culture of safety: fosters a culture focused on making safety a priority, addressing potential safety hazards quickly and effectively
    • Solutions-oriented positivity: maintains and promotes a positive outlook for the rest of the Packaging Team
    • Culture of self development and leadership: The Packaging Specialist participates in and completes leadership development training assigned to the Packaging Team, they must build and maintain proficiencies in using the CCBC’s leadership program tools, concepts, and vocabulary
  • Packaging Operations
    • Develops and updates packaging procedures, check sheets and communications to aid in the execution of daily activities
    • Operates and monitors the production line to personal safety, beer quality, and asset efficiency
    • Performs operations on all manufacturing equipment with a focus on efficiency and safety
  • Skills and competency development:
    • Learn, understand, and maintain quality packaging initiatives
    • Learn and maintain competency in safety policies, procedures, and regulations
    • Explore, connect, and learn about the Craft Beer Industry
    • Attend and learn about quality in craft beer through sensory class
    • Obtain forklift certification with support from CCBC
    • Develop technical aptitude on CCBC equipment
  • Perform with excellence:
    • The Packaging Specialist must perform at a level of excellence with a focus on quality and efficiency
    • The Packaging Specialist must maintain finished goods and store finished goods neatly and safely in the cooler
    • The Packaging Specialist must establish and maintain a basic understanding of timely communication tools such as e-mail
  • Time & Task Management:
    • The Packaging Specialist must remain flexible during production changes, whether the changes are foreseen or made with short notice
    • The Packaging Specialist must report to their shift on time and follow company clock-punch policies and procedures
