DESCRIPTION:Join us to meet author Tara Nurin as she talks about her new book\, “A Woman’s Place Is in the Brewhouse: A Forgotten History of Alewives\, Brewsters\, Witches and CEOs.” Nurin will give a brief reading from the book beginning at 2:30 PM and will have copies of the book for sale.\n\nTara Nurin is the author of “A Woman’s Place Is in the Brewhouse: Forgotten History of Alewives\, Brewsters\, Witches\, and CEO’s”. Tara is also the beer and spirits contributor to Forbes and an adjunct Beer 101 instructor at Wilmington University. The former major-market TV news reporter has been the Libations columnist for New Jersey Monthly\, the women-in-beer columnist for Ale Street News\, and the cohost of the What’s on Tap weekly beer TV show. Her work has been published in more than fifty newspapers\, magazines\, and digital platforms such as Food + Wine\, USA Today\, and Wine Enthusiast. She is certified by the Beer Judge Certification Program and serves as a frequent expert and host in the media and in educational programming. A champion of sustainability\, diversity\, and the arts\, Bell’s is committed to being a force for good. Therefore\, they are a natural fit as brewery’s next Get Comfortable brewery partner. \nBeginning with the 2022 season\, we asked the Get Comfortable Advisory Council to help identify a single area of focus to direct our resources and energies over the next five years\, with the aim of achieving measurable impact within that area. From the guidance of this group\, Creature Comforts selected literacy as the multi-year impact area for the Get Comfortable campaign\, focusing specifically on Third Grade reading proficiency as a metric of success. The program’s agency partners will join in the brewery’s commitment to increase Third Grade reading proficiency within the Clarke County School District from 20-percent to 60-percent over the next five years. \nWant to take part in positive change?
